Weddings {Dusty + Anna}

I was super excited when my cousin, Dusty, and his fiancĂ©, Anna, asked me to photograph their wedding. For one, because it's always an honor for me to photograph my family, and secondly, aside from Dusty choosing an absolute sweetheart for a bride, Anna is also GORGEOUS.  My camera kinda digs gorgeous. Well done, Dusty, well done.

I spent the morning getting ready with the gals at 5th Avenue Color Company in Hastings, which is Anna's hometown.  After returning to Anna's parents home to get Anna into her gown, we went to Pioneer Village to meet the wedding party for pictures.  Pioneer Village, by the way, is heaven for a photographer! There is a beautiful photo opportunity around every corner. My second shooter, Brooke Wood, and I could've played there all day if we didn't have more important matters at hand!

The entire day was beatiful and full of fun little surprises...from the ring bearer having second thoughts about walking down the aisle (mid-walk), to the "How I Met Your Mother" inspired tribute video created by Dusty's family.  Dusty and Anna compliment each other perfectly, and you could feel the love and excitement in the air from the start of the day to the very last dance.  Here are some of the highlights from their beautiful October wedding day.

Weddings {Tim + Tena}

I had the honor of photographing Tim and Tena's wedding last July. Tim and Tena had decided not to see each other prior to the ceremony, and you could just feel the excitement and anticipation in the air! Seeing Tena in her gown and looking absolutely STUNNING I knew Tim was going to be a goner as soon as he laid eyes on her. A lot of thought and attention went into the planning of their special day and the details did not go unnoticed...especially with hot pink as an accent color! Their wedding was a big, beautiful celebration of love.

Stillwater holds a special place in both Tim and Tena's heart. It's the landmark to all of the special moments in their relationship.  Where they first met at the Dock Cafe, went of their first date at Ruby Begonia's, and where Tim proposed at the top of the looo-o-ong staircase with the phenomenal view overlooking the bluffs and the St. Croix River. So it is no wonder that Tim and Tena wanted to make a trip to Stillwater with their wedding party right after the ceremony. A town that holds that much romance for a couple should at least get a Tim and Tena sighting on their wedding day! We navigated the busy streets that itty bitty festival known as Lumberjack Days brings (imagine a busy summer weekend in Stillwater times 10) and enjoyed the weather and cocktails at the Dock Cafe. We made a traffic stopping appearance on Main Street, then headed to Manitou Station in White Bear Lake for their wedding reception.

Congratulations to Tim and Tena! Wishing you love and happiness always!

BUNNYPALOOZA 2012

I hope that everyone enjoyed a wonderful Easter!  It is amazing the amount of candy that can be collected (not to mention consumed) in a single day.  I am slowly weening myself off of sugar in an attempt to minimize my withdrawl symptoms.  Unfortunately, I've found that I can not be trusted alone with a hollow chocolate bunny...large, small, or even jumbo sized.

Speaking of bunnies...A few weeks ago, we started getting into the Easter spirit with our third annual Bunnypalooza.  Harley and Bailey returned for another year of fun with the kids, along with a few new furry faces: Lexur, Pretzel, and Shanay.  As you'd imagine with a child and bunny combo, it was two days full of fun and surprises!  If you're intested in joining in on the fun next year please contact me at amber.wiener@alaflutter.com and you'll be added to the distribution list.

Thanks again to all of the kiddos that came over to play!  Happy Easter and Happy Spring!

{ENJOY} Workshop with Erin Johnson Photography

As I'd mentioned in my previous post, I've deemed 2012 to be a year I'm dedicating to both personal and professional growth.  I am super excited to be registered for several workshops this year to help me focus my business and fuel my creative fire.  Earlier this month, I attended the one-day info packed extravaganza known as the {ENJOY} Workshop, hosted by wedding photographer Erin Johnson at her Minneapolis studio.  Erin offered up so much helpful insight on how she's built a successful photography business as well as critiqued our work and helped us determine our style.  I left her workshop feeling more confident, inspired, motivated and full of ideas that I am so excited to incorporate into my own business!  Thanks Erin, for sharing your talents in both photography and mentoring, and to the group of photographers with whom I was able to share the experience.  And last but not least, to newlyweds Dan and Kendra, who brought the fun and the sexy and were SO much fun to shoot!
