Engagements: Dusty+Anna

Oohhh, it was a chilly one on the afternoon of Dusty and Anna's engagement session.  Fall had officially turned it in for the year and you could feel winter gearing up for its debut.  I was anticipating editing out goose bumps and sniffly red noses, but Dusty and Anna braved the cold like champions.  Plus, cold weather encourages snuggling.  Bonus.  Dusty is my cousin and Anna is his gorgeous fiance.  They're getting married next fall and I'm honored to be shooting their wedding.  I really enjoying photographing family.  Weddings are such a special day to be a part of and having a personal connection makes it even more so.  That, and I have old childhood nicknames in my arsenal that I can bust out if necessary (sinister laugh!).  Just kidding.  I probably won't have to use those.

a la flutter: couples session

I love a session that makes me laugh, and this one had me rolling!  Matthew and Kari are a super fun couple that I met at Matthew's sister's wedding over the summer.  They are married but hadn't had a photographer at their own wedding and felt they were due for some professional photos together.  I couldn't agree more. :)  I think more married couples should do this!
Speks the wonder dog.  He had so much energy, yet sat so well for the camera.  My hero!
Thanks for a fun and fabulous session, Matthew and Kari!

Towards the end of our session I asked if there was anything else they wanted to try.
Matthew said, "I have a hat."

Happy Halloween!

I have enlisted the help of my adorable niece in wishing everyone a happy halloween!  May your costumes be frightening (or stinkin' cute...whatever you're going for) and your candy bags plentiful!

Weddings: Eric & Alyse

Once upon a time (well not THAT long ago) a friend of a friend asked if I would pretty please photograph her wedding.  Having exclusively shot children & families prior to that I nervously accepted this request.  I am so glad I did because: 1) their wedding was romantic & fabulous, and 2) it made me realize what a true wedding junkie I truly was.  That first wedding was two years ago in Stillwater, MN.  A town where I worked in a past life & miss dearly.  Fast forward to the present, when soon-to-be-married couple Eric & Alyse asked me to shoot their wedding & told me their ceremony & reception would be on a river boad on the St. Croix in Stillwater.  I was thrilled!  And when they told me they'd be getting ready at the gorgeous William Sauntry Mansion?  Be still, my heart!  And when I arrived and Eric was dressed in a white tux...you get it, it made me happy.  Here are some pictures from a beautiful wedding on a beautiful day of a beautiful couple.

They had me at, "sure I'll jump from that"

Meet Tera & Henry.  They are getting married TOMORROW.  I am honored & excited to be shooting their wedding, especially after all the fun that was had during their engagement session!  I am a country girl, born & raised (seriously, I had a rafter of wild turkeys walk through my backyard this morning...& I know that a group of turkeys is called a "rafter"...that's country girl stuff), but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the opportunity to shoot city sessions.  I love the atmosphere & all of the different colors & textures.  It makes me happy.  And shooting a couple like Tera & Henry makes me happy too.  They are completely smitten with eachother & are all about letting the good times roll.  Here are some pictures from our engagement session, where there was kissing, laughing, & impromptu dancing in the street.
